IT'S FINALLY SPRING IN MICHIGAN!!

WOW! It's going to be in the 70's today! Hopefully, we have a better growing season this year. Tim has already started on our vegetable garden spot...he's been rotatilling a spot about 90X45 ft in size. Man! We should have quite the crop in the fall! Enough to share with family and friends, too! We've started clearing an area of our property so I can start a new flower bed. Very excited about it!
Work has been going very well. Finally, used to the hours. I work from 3pm to midnight Sunday through Wednesday, and Friday. Have Thursdays and Saturdays off. This weekend I will have Sunday off as well. Taking a float day for Easter Sunday.
Jen and her family are coming over for dinner. No fuss dinner...just ham a dinner. I will be making a cheesecake though. And...if time permits, a treat for the grandkids.
Dad is doing pretty good. He's been battling with a cold, virus for the past few weeks, but is on his way to being healthy again.
Not much else going on. Just the day to day stuff.
Everyone have a Happy Easter!

February 2010

Man! It's been sooo long still I've written on my Blog! Guess I should since my uncle reminded me!
We have been very blessed this past year with me acquiring a very good job at Charter Communications (cable company) in Grand Rapids at one of their many call centers. I work as a retention specialist, taking phone calls from all over the US from Charter customers. I went through 8 weeks of intense training and now on the floor taking live calls. Didn't know if I would be good at this type of work, but found out that I really like what I'm doing. And... the money isn't too bad either.
Tim is still laid off and looking for work or may be going back to college. He hasn't made up his mind yet what to do because of the stagnate economy that our state and nation are in right now. Really hard for us and many others. Especially since we're pushing closer to the 60 mark.
Our winter has been pretty mild this year, compared to last year. We've only had a couple of snow storms in early December. Already dreaming and thinking about spring and planting the gardens. Can hardly wait to get my hands in the dirt again!
Dad is doing okay for now. He was in the hospital a few weeks ago for a couple of days. His hemoglobin was really low and had to have 2 pints of blood. He also went through a couple of tests. The doctors determined that his stomach was very inflamed and put him on anti acid medications. Between Julie, Tim, and myself we have been busy with Dad regarding his health issues, but we are all doing okay with it.

Summer Has Finally Arrived!

It has been soooo long since I have written on my blog...been on my facebook page most of the time. So, today, I will try to undate somewhat. If no one knows, Tim and I have moved closed to Sand Lake. We bought a different house last fall in September. It's a newer and nicer home...3 bedrooms, 2 baths, living room with a fireplace, dining room, and kitchen with an eating area. Our home sits on 1 acre of land.
We no longer have our dog, Duke. He has been missing for nearly 5 months now. We no longer have any hope of finding him. We did everything to try to find him! We believe that some other family has him and hopefully, he is very happy.
Our summer here in Michigan has been cold this year, until a few days ago. We finally have hot and humid weather. Last Sunday we had quite the storms in the area. Mostly in the Sparta area and along the lakeshore. Julie and Steve lost a couple of trees on the back of their property and limbs, but no damage to their home. Thank goodness! Tim & LuAnn had a tree come down, but no damage to their home. And Dad...his property is just fine! We were very lucky...no damage and the storm wasn't as bad here as in the Sparta area and else where.
All the grandkids and growing and healthy. My oldest grandson just turned 17 in July. He will be a junior this year...playing football and in the band as well. Hope to attend his home games to see him play...football and in the band!
Tim has been laid off since December...permantly since January. We are doing okay. No extras in our lifes right now. We planted a vegetable garden, but everything is about 2 weeks behind with the cool weather. Hopefully with the warm summer weather that we're having now...the garden will grow better. We are still picking peas! Can you believe it? In August?
Well...that's about it for now. Hopefully I won't wait 8 months again to update my Blog!

Everyone have a great summer...at least what is left of it!

Winter Again! Ugh!

Winter has surely arrived and then some here in Michigan. We have been having an artic cold spell this week. Today's high has been 8 degrees with temperatures below zero every night. All our animals have been staying in the house at night because of the frigid temperatures.
Tim has been laid off from work since before Christmas. He's scheduled to go back to work on the 26th of this month unless he hears differently. We're trying to stay warm and keep busy and not spend any money during this trying time. At least we have a fireplace and use it every day in addition to our furnace. Helps with the cost of the propane. We cut and split our own wood from Tim's daughter's property. Everyone helping each other! What a blessing...family!
Our Christmas holiday was spent with our kids and grandkids...what a housefull! And, of course, went to Steve and Julie's for the big family holiday get together. Was great visiting with all my nephews and their families, as well as my siblings.
I have been ill most of the fall and the first part of the winter. I was diagnosed with COPD in November. Have quit smoking completely! Has helped alot with my breathing. Hope to stay a nonsmoker! Now I am on a daily medication to maintain my health!
I've been finishing a few painting projects that I started some time ago. This keeps me busy with the rest of the household chores. What an exciting life I have!

New House

Longest Move!

Thought I would bring my blog up to date since I am up early this morning and have a few spare minutes. Between having medical tests, having bronchitis, and trying to move to our new house...haven't had alot of extra time on my hands the past 2 months.
We can finally see light at the end of the tunnel. Have just about everything moved to the new house. Have to have everything here by the end of this month. As far as the medical tests are concerned...they're just the normal routine tests required when you're over 50 years old. Everything is fine, thank goodness! Have one more test to go through. Since I get bronchitis once a year about the same time every year, my doctor wants to run some tests after I am healthy from the current bronchitis. Wants to see if its chronic bronchitis or something else.

If I haven't sent you all an email with our new address, I will be sending one out soon. That is, if I don't forget!

Our animals came through the move surprisingly well. In fact, I think they like this house better than the old one. Bigger house and open floor plan helps alot.

Not much else going on. NOW...have to organize everything! Downsizing is sooo much fun! Even though the new house is bigger, we do not have a garage like at the old house. Sure is one way to get us to "downsize". We are such "pack-rats"! Both of us!
We've been giving away and throwing away alot of "stuff"!

Summer Almost Over!

It's been several months since I have updated...so, I thought I better get busy and do it today, because I know I will not have any extra time in the near future to tackle the task.
We have been looking for a different house all summer and finally found the one that we wanted to purchase. We signed the closing papers yesterday afternoon. It's a 3 bedroom, 2 bath ranch style home with a fireplace in the living room. Kitchen with a breakfast nock and dining room with sliders to a deck. The house is apx. 10 years old and sits on 1 acre of land. We're really excited about this step in our lifes...feel very blessed! The property is on the south side of Sand Lake...closer to the highway for Tim to drive to work and closer to our families.
It seems like this summer has gone by soooo fast this year. There's alot of things we wanted to do, but never had the time. Oh well...apparently, we weren't intended to do everything we wanted to do.
Our grown kids are getting their children ready for school. School starts Tuesday! I can relate to the daughters...yeh! Kids in school!
Tim has been "trying" to restore a 1964 Dodge Polara 2-door most of the summer. He hopes to have it on the road within the next few weeks, but with us trying to move within the month, don't know how much he will get done on it.
Not much else going on...just the normal day to day stuff.
When I have pictures of the new house...will try to remember to post them.
Oh yes! My oldest grandson, Michael, is playing football this season and is in the marching band as well. Very proud of him! We will be going to at least one of his home games this season!
Hope everyone had a great summer this year...and a safe Labor Day weekend!
